Whisper Dictation is designed with privacy as its core principle. Unlike cloud-based dictation services, your voice data never leaves your Mac. All speech recognition processing happens locally on your device using OpenAI's Whisper AI model.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Whisper Dictation does NOT collect, transmit, or store:

• Your voice recordings or audio data
• The text generated from your dictation
• Personal information or identifiers
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Cookies or tracking data
• IP addresses or location data

We have no servers receiving your data. The application works 100% offline after the initial download.

How the Application Works

When you use Whisper Dictation:

1. Your microphone captures audio locally on your Mac
2. The Whisper AI model (stored locally) processes the audio
3. Text is generated and inserted into your active application
4. Audio is immediately discarded - it is never saved or transmitted

No internet connection is required for the dictation functionality to work.

Third-Party Services

Gumroad (Payment Processing)

This Website (Google Analytics)

This website (dictationformac.com) is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may collect basic server logs as part of their hosting service.

The website uses Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to measure aggregate site traffic - such as pages visited, referral source, approximate location, and browser/device type. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser for this purpose. We use this information solely to understand how the website is used. This applies to the website only: the Whisper Dictation application itself contains no analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind.

macOS Permissions

Whisper Dictation requires the following macOS permissions to function:

Children's Privacy

Whisper Dictation does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The application processes all data locally without any data transmission.
